I ordered Whole wheat blueberry pancakes for $9.95 and an omelette for another $9.95. Both were decent/ not bad but I was glad that I had a groupon! For the price, I ws surprised that each $10 plate came without toast, nor a meat on the side, or at least something more for that price. Coffee was basic coffee. I only had breakfast but upon initial experience, I think they'll need to provide more food for the money and/or lower prices. Perhaps their other food is better than breakfast or perhaps it was an "off day"? Being just 2 blocks from Eggs in the City, where all of the above is usually excellent for less $, I wasn't blown away, but you should def try their groupon $10 for $20 because then that's not a bad deal . hope others will (grab a groupon), have a different experience and prove me wrong? I plan to try other menu items and will update.

My wife and I dropped in for lunch yesterday. The place is cute and was a recommendation. I come from Los Angeles so I think it is hilarious that people are complaining that the sandwiches are expensive. Good to be back in the land of the cheap'os. Anyway, the food here is really good. I had the curry panini, and it was ridiculously good. My wife had the southwestern wrap, and it tasted good, but something about it wasn't quite right. Whether it was the chicken, mayo or something it was a little off. I did not get sick, and it still tasted good, but I am super sensitive foodie and if anything is slightly not fresh I tend to taste it. That is the only reason I did not give this place 5 stars. Great lunch place.

I liked this place, but there are some things that I just can't deal with. One of them is charging you 7 bucks for a sandwich, that although tasty, was tiny, and just a sandwich. i could go to other sandwich shop and pay 7-8 bucks and get a bigger sandwich with some kind of side or two! So... Yeah. I liked their Chicken Salad sandwich, but I was not in love with the size and the lack of sides for that price.

This place used to be Pinon Market ( yelp.com/biz/piñon-marke… ). We drove by here a lot, and decided to go in for their Sunday Brunch. On their website and the sign on the street, it said the brunch runs from 10am to 2pm on Sunday - we went there around 10:45am on Sunday, and nothing was ready and the cashier said it will be ready in 5 minutes. We were there until 11am, and nothing was ready still. We asked the cashier again, and he said it will be ready in another 5 minutes. We could see into the kitchen and it didn't seem to us that the food will be ready any time soon. Sunday brunch is $21.95 (Champagne) $19.95 (No Champagne)...we didn't have patient to wait. We will probably stop by again during the week to try their menu items.

I really enjoyed both sandwiches that my wife and I shared at this place. The Cobb sandwich (on focaccia) was fresh, stacked high, and very flavorful. The crispness of the cucumbers and bacon made it, as did the flavorful basil mayo. The Tarragon Chicken Salad sandwich was nice too. I especially loved the occasional purple grape. The house-made focaccia was good, although my wife thought it was a bit thick for her liking. On the whole, a great spot for a quick, fresh, tasty sandwich.

lunch options and dinner options are diverse, fresh and appetizing. LARGE assortment of pies, cookies and treats. Pumpkin loaf is a personal favorite. The cheddar biscuits will forever keep me coming back. Oh, and the owner is the sweetest women ever.

Her name is Victoria. My birth mother's name was Victoria. She was from Austria and married some military dude named Daniel from Houston. I was adopted at 3 days of age in 1964. Her obituary stated that she was preceded in death by an infant son named Ricky. I've always wondered if I was that Ricky. But I digress. I found this place somehow while I was getting my graduate degree in Public Administration from the University of Utah. Every other week I would stop in here on an early Saturday morning and pick up a 16 ounce latte and a tea scone. I would savor that pastry and accompanying cup of Joe as long as I could! Requesting a tea scone seemed effeminate for me but it didn't take long to get over it. Each time I was in there, the flavors were different. Some days they were blueberry, other times they were raspberry. I'm certain there was a strawberry and perhaps a peach or apple. No, I don't think there was ever an apple tea scone. I got my cohort to go here for lunch one day. Lots of sandwiches to choose from, sides, ready-made meals, etc. It's quite a place with everything there in a display case to choose from! All made from scratch. By hand. Under the watchful gaze and supervision of Victoria. If I lived near Foothill or Harvard/Yale, Victoria would be catering all of my events! If I were still in school, I'd be by there just as regularly as I was from 2000-2002. This place is quality through and through. I absolutely love everything about this place except for the fact that they're not open on the sabbath. I don't begrudge them taking a day of rest whatsoever. It merely makes me appreciate the rest of the week that they're open all that much more!

Friendly folks. Quick service. Food was on the bland side - had Southwest Wrap. $10 for sandwich and side. Wouldn't go out of my way to go back.

This place makes a quality sandwich for lunch, with some interesting twists on familiar concepts. And the sandwiches are very filling... I usually find that the half sandwich is plenty of food. The ingredients are very fresh, as advertised. My only disappointment has been the cookies that tend to be on the dry side. Other desserts I've tried there have been much better quality. Good for take out, but they also have a nice outdoor patio if you want to stay.

I have enjoyed getting takeout from Pinon. Specifically, I think their prepared salads are very tasty, including the potato salad, chicken salad, and pasta salad. I also enjoy their quiches, which are very large and come with a "green" salad containing baby spinach, green beans, red peppers and squash for $8. Their service is somewhat fast and very friendly even though they get quite busy during the lunch rush. I've also tried their breakfast scones and really enjoyed those as well. One suggestion is that they should write labels for the prepared salads and vegetarian entrees in their refrigerator case. I feel silly asking the employees to describe each and every item as they all look so scrumptious. Including the prices would be helpful as well. I think their food is well-priced considering the good quality of their fresh ingredients.

This is a really cute, quiet little cafe. We had breakfast here and our yogurt and fruit was fantastic. The yogurt & granola had a delicious hint of cinnamon. I would go again :)

Sigh. I forgot to write about Pinon, so Chris hit it first! I've been a fan for years now, but I only go there for the chicken salad/sandwich and the amazing CUPCAKES. If you want to die and go to heaven, go in for the Chicken Salad - the seasoning is wonderful and though, yes, it is a little overpriced for this budget-conscious girl, I do have dreams about it and splurge occasionally. I first tasted their food when my very classy boss of a few years ago started using them to cater our staff meetings. The food was so fresh, delicious and well done, I searched out the brick and mortar, to get more of that delish salad. The cupcakes are sheer indulgence, and one of the best around, in my opinion. The other baked goods are really good, as well, but a little pricey... I bake a mean brownie, so I'd rather do that myself. After Chris' review, I will probably avoid brekkie there, but nothing can stop me from my periodic visits for that heavenly chicken salad.

The vegetable sandwich was mushy, old and unappetizing. I wish I had vomited on the table in order to share with them, what they did to me. The service was pleasant. The display looked sparse and the food looked old. I wouldn't have served that food to someone I didn't like. I know it's a shame to waste, but this belonged in the compost pile. My friend searched for this place for 30 minutes, and I couldn't feel any more disapointed that we found it. I will never be going back.

We got the concert take-out they advertize. Mistake. First the good part: the brownie was just fine, as was the potato salad. But the sandwiches we ordered were nine parts heavy heavy bread and one part actual food. Even that one part wasn't distinguished. I might try again for something not a sandwich, but it'll be a month or five before I dare.

Delicious sandwiches and great customer service. When I'm near the University and in need of food, I head to Pinon. I've tried about 6 different sandwiches, 3 different cookies, and 4 or 5 of their salads. The sandwich are fresh and delicious. Some travel better than others - the grilled vegetable sandwich, for example, should only be eaten fresh as it will made the bread soggy. My favorite is typically the last one I tried - in this case the rosemary roast beef. Huge with lots and lots of high quality roast beef, and matched with a perfect dijon mustard. I also love the curried chicken salad - very unusual. This locally owned place is so much better than subway, and almost the same price. Fabulous.

Pinon reminds me of a European Cafe that not only serves fresh food but also acts as a deli and bakery. The decor here reminds me of something you might see out of Berkeley more so than SLC. They proudly advertise that everything here is freshly made and they try try to use the best ingredients. Upon walking in I have to say I was impressed. They had a nice selection of fresh made items such as sandwiches & salads, baked goods such as sticky buns, scones, muffins, & breads, a cold cuts section that they advertise they do it themselves such as ham and roast beef, and they even had a small selection of doggie treats. They didn't have much of breakfast menu but I decided to go with their breakfast special of the day which was a 3 egg vegetable omelet with potatoes. I placed my order and found a spot to relax. The one thing I noticed is that Pinon's is a place to relax read the newspaper and have a long conversation with someone. Since I was alone and just looking for something to good to eat and go, the waiting for my 3 egg omelet seemed to take forever. I looked at my watch and it must have been about 15 minutes before my food was served to me. Just way way to long for to wait for a simple 3 egg omelet especially considering the place was only half full. To be honest, I wasn't that impressed with my dish especially after paying about $12 for one for breakfast. For a 3 egg omelet, it was about half the size of what you would get at other places. While the ingredients were a bit better than say at an IHOP, it wasn't that much better, let alone paying twice the price tag. The potatoes had decent seasoning, but the portions here like the eggs were really small. Also the potatoes were a bit on the soggy side than crispy. I left Pinon's a bit underwhelmed. I think they have a cool concept and can tell they get a lot of regulars but the quality and portions just doesn't match up to what you pay for a $12 breakfast. Maybe breakfast just isn't their thing. I might be tempted to try lunch here someday but I wouldn't be tempted to come back for breakfast. As to rating, I'm feeling eh about Pinon Market and Cafe. I would give them about 2.5 rating, but for Yelp purposes, I'll round up and give them a weak 3 star rating.

If you're not in a hurry and love to dine al fresco, I highly recommend this place and the Sunrise egg burrito. The green chile sauce is quite tasty and not spicy. I love spicy but I know that not everyone does. I look forward to trying more on their limited but sufficient menu.

Since this place is walking distance from our home, we decided we'd better give it a try, and support it, if it's good. Guess what? It IS GOOD! YAY! There is a super popular, wait-an-hour-for-a-table, breakfast spot in our 'hood, but it's over-rated and not worth any wait, IMO. So, when we saw that Sunrise Bistro was re-branding and re-inventing itself out of the proverbial ashes of Pinon Market, we went. We had a splendid breakfast on their most excellent patio. It was Saturday Morning around 10:00 and we didn't have to wait 1 second for a table. Good thing, since I needed some hangover helper, stat! I had bacon and eggs, with fried potatoes. Everything was good. The eggs were perfectly cooked, over-medium. Lisa had the ham and eggs, and the ham wasn't great, but everything else was wonderful. The coffee was pretty watery and they don't have any fun flavorings, so that was disappointing. The service we received was great. The owner was there and he couldn't have been more nice and helpful. I could go with 3 or 4 stars here, probably 3.5 would be the most accurate. Since there was little-to-no waiting, I'll give them the extra half.

Sunrise Bistro is basically a re-branding of Pinon Market and while the name is better, the overall experience was only somewhat. Service was a lot more friendly than last time, but still had a speed issue and again, they were out of a lot of stuff. The menu is also scant and tiny and more than anything, sort of cements the idea this is mostly a catering service that happens to be open for a few hours around lunchtime. This time, my potatoes were not seasoned at all and instead of being nearly raw, were mostly burnt. Everything came to me not seasoned, including the slightly overcooked over-medium eggs I ordered. Bacon was done acceptably, but wasn't drained at all, so I had a nice puddle of grease on the plate. Toast came out, again, acceptably, though it was far too cold to melt the colder pat of butter I got with it. Maybe they wanted the stuff to speak for itself or maybe they wanted me to provide the seasoning or maybe some other reason, but that part was definitely not impressive. The country gravy was, like most of the other stuff, acceptable, but also, again, didn't stand out in any way. I think if I wanted to hang around outside and wasn't in any sort of remote hurry at all, I might consider this place, but while this visit was overall better, it's not enough for this to do much other than confirm my prior review.
